Nationalisme as Instrument to Keeping Power of Status Quo

Hariansemarang.id-Homo Sapiens is completely uniqe creature due to their ability to make collective imagination. The intersubjective reality is way of human to collaborate one another to pursue certain purpuse. That is base stone of establishing organitation, community, nation, ect. Human civilization has been establishing by the imagination. That is sound great but, we have to know that with the same way a handred of tahousand millions or even a billions people have been killing each other throughout human history.

Indonesia is one of the product of collective imagination in the form of nation. Since first half 20th (twentieth) century people who lived in nusantara archipelago — pioneered by educated people — made consep that was imagined together about a nation. “Sumpah Pemuda” is sign of unity among many ethnic, nation, empire around the archipelago. The declaration could remove a ton of defference between them and that is initial of Indonesia today.

A great story about collective fight and dream. But, unfortunately, after the nation running about 80 year, we have been facing many tings that contradictive with principe that people had made together. The power of government does not used to make weel-being of society. Quite the opposite, the people suffering poverty due to the government does not has commitement to dedicating their work to people.

Indonesia established by collective conclusion among millions people. They have been making agreement to prosperous together, wich is led by people who appointed to become government officials. But, apparently, the agreement has broken by the officials. We can see a million problem of Indonesia like corruption, human right violations, degradation of political moral, and so on.

Furthermore, people does not silent, they rebel and rally. There are so many resistance againts government widespread across regions, such as what happened in August after Aafan Kurniawan (online taxi driver) died. The thing provoke anger in the entire country. It is oke, even we should rally against government if the rule and agreement has broken. But, something that should common in democratic countries received extreamely bad treatment, even violating human right. A dozens of people died, a hundreds of people were injured caused violence perpetrated by police. More that that, a thousands of people thrown into prison.

The excuse they used to violating people is security of nation. They said that every single thing that threaten national unity must removed. Hence, everything could do if the reason is national security. They consider nationalisme is everything, even it is oke to kill people.
